Sage Tree Circles is an integration of personal and work; an evolving life work that I love, with an offering to those who can connect to my message.
No matter what work we do as individuals, no matter what work we engage in together – let’s anchor it in meaning and the beauty of Life. I love the logo of my new initiative – a creation of my friend, Kara Stonehouse, who offers a beautiful visual rendering of the essence of Sage Tree Circles. The symbols we choose in our endeavors are important – they anchor our intentions, and they physically manifest our identity.
Sage is wisdom; to be fully human, we walk towards developing and deepening wisdom. We do this through learning from our experiences and dedicating ourselves to understanding more and more about Life. In the place where I was born, we are surrounded by sagebrush; sage anchors me to my own roots. Sage is a traditional medicine for First Nations peoples; sage is used for cleansing and healing.
Trees hold life – they reach to the sky, they branch out in new growth, and they are rooted – they are rooted in the earth. They teach us how to stand as human beings in life. The Tree of Life is an ancient, universal symbol, representing the interconnection of all life, and the spiritual path of human beings as we move through our own lives. The Tree of Life is an archetype – a universally understood symbol that crosses culture and time.
Circles hold spaces where people gather, as equals, with a willingness to sit together, listening to one another, and expressing one’s self. Circles are rooted in traditions of sharing stories, working through collective solutions to difficulties, honoring transitions and connecting to community. Circles remind us that all things are related, we are all connected to one another, and to the cycles of Life.
I thank all those who have been teachers for me, and all those who will be teachers for me – and I offer you the inspiration that the spring brings to us – the seeds of new life, and the cycle of renewal as you endeavor on your life path.
